Christ Episcopal Church Poughkeepsie

Celebrating over 250 years of Service and Worship

Essentials of Planning

Available Dates

We require at least three month’s notice prior to a wedding. Please contact Gregory Citarella, parish administrator at   or (845)452-8220 to inquire about the availability of dates and/or to arrange for a meeting with the clergy to discuss your wedding.

Fees

Wedding costs are an important concern of every couple. Our desire is to make our fees and the payment schedule clear and direct. For the space itself and for the officiating clergy, there are two fee tiers, one for pledging members (at the date of application) and one for non-members and non-pledging members and participants; all other fees are the same for members and non-members. Please contact Greg Citarella, our office administrator for a complete listing.

Counseling

For a wedding in the Episcopal tradition, premarital counseling is required by the canons of the Episcopal Church. In the case of a divorced person who wishes to remarry, permission from the Bishop is required.

Service

Planning the liturgy (service details) occurs in collaboration with the clergy. Each couple is encouraged to select the scripture readings for their service. Other readings may be suggested and used with the approval of the officiating clergy.

Each couple works with one of our fine musicians, who will be creative and flexible in helping you choose music appropriate to the sacred space and solemnity of the liturgy. Bring your ideas and preferences to them. The music of the service is ultimately at the discretion of the officiating priest, and you must consult with our Minister of Music, Dr. Laura Ramsey Russell, to receive permission for outside musicians to be invited.

Flowers

Flowers are permitted in the church. Flowers placed at the altar will remain with Christ Church. All other flowers and decorations must be removed following the service.

Please note the following policies:

  • Christ Church does not permit the use of aisle runners.

  • Rice, flower petals, confetti, etc. may not be scattered in the church or chapel or on the church property
